The problem with this protein is that it is 50% bad and 50% good. Its contribution to our body pathology is very significant that blocking or hindering its production may solve Cancer but may also disrupt normal body processes.

Understanding more of the structure of the huge htert protein complex is certainly going to be critical in not only cancer but many disease processes and of course aging.

Blocking telomerase to fight cancer could be a bad idea, possibly causing damage to crucial stem cells. Stem cells are responsible for hair growth, renewal of skin, blood production, renewal of the digestive tract, etc. Telomerase seems to help keep these stem cells ticking throughout our lives, whereas many other cells in the body have to eventually face Hayflick’s limit (40-50 divisions and then cellular senescence).
